"Adapt yourself to the life you've been given, but love the people with whom you share it."

- Marcus Aurelius

Meditations

This combines two essential life skills: adaptive resilience and active compassion. We don't choose all our circumstances - family background, natural abilities, historical period, or many life events. Wisdom begins with accepting and adapting to these given conditions rather than wasting energy resenting them. But adaptation doesn't mean passive resignation. The second part calls for active love toward the people who share our journey. We can choose our response to circumstances and our commitment to relationships. This creates a balanced approach: accepting what we cannot change while fully engaging with what we can influence. It's both practical wisdom and emotional intelligence.
