Stoic Materialism
The view that everything, including thoughts and emotions, is material.
Unlike modern materialism, Stoic materialism included a divine, rational principle (Logos) as the organizing force of matter. Everything - bodies, souls, thoughts, emotions - is composed of matter, but this matter is infused with reason and purpose. This view unified physics and ethics, showing how understanding the material world leads to wisdom about how to live.
